DND & unsubscribe
What happens at STOP or DND?
When someone sends “STOP” or unsubscribes, Leadgains treats that as an opt-out. The contact may then no longer receive automatic communication, including appointment reminders.
Brief overview
DND stands for “Do Not Disturb”. In Leadgains this means that the contact may no longer be approached via automatic communication. That's stricter than just removing someone from a follow-up.
The contact unsubscribes. Leadgains sets the contact to opt-out and stops automatic communication.
Automatic messages may not be sent to that contact, including appointment reminders.
The contact is taken from active lead and follow-up flows.
Review the conversation before reaching out again or making any manual changes.
What happens automatically?
| Trigger | Effect |
|---|---|
| The lead sends “STOP” | Leadgains treats this as unsubscribe and starts opt-out processing. |
| Opt-out is registered | The contact is given an opt-out status so that automatic communication does not continue. |
| DND is turned on | The contact is marked as not accessible for automatic messages, including appointment reminders. |
| Follow-up flows are stopped | Leadgains removes the contact from active follow-up flows so that no more regular lead follow-up leaves. |
| Open follow-up is completed | Where relevant, the open opportunity or follow-up card is also cleaned up. |
DND is not the same as Remove Follow Up
Remove Follow Up stops automatic follow-up, but it does not mean that someone unsubscribes from all automatic communications. DND or STOP is an explicit opt-out and should be treated more carefully.
| Situation | Use |
|---|---|
| Someone just does not need to be followed up further | Use Remove Follow Up. |
| Someone sends STOP or asks to unsubscribe | Leave DND/opt-out. Don't follow up automatically again. |
| Someone had an appointment with reminders | With STOP/opt-out, the appointment reminders also stop. Please check the appointment status so that the team knows whether the appointment will continue or needs to be canceled separately. |
